The Orchard School is an outstanding Sandwell Special School that caters for pupils with complex and profound learning difficulties. These include severe autism, complex medical conditions, physical and mobility difficulties, as well as severe developmental delay. There are currently 145 pupils on roll, and our children range from 2 –11 years. We are also a designated Teaching School.

We are a dynamic, vibrant and forward looking school, with a welcoming ethos and a commitment to working in partnership with other agencies and parents in order to harness and develop each child’s potential.

You must have extensive experience and a passion for the education of pupils with a wide range of needs.

Our Governing Body are seeking to appoint a good/outstanding teacher to this post with effect. The successful candidate will be an exemplary classroom practitioner who is highly motivated, experienced enthusiastic, and willing to contribute to our successful school.

Learning Support Pracitioner Level 3

Salary:Band D SCP 20 – 25, £19,430 - £22658 (Pro rata)

Hours: 1 x Maternity Cover Temporary post - 32.5 hours per week

Hours:           1 Term   1-1   (24.15hrs)   9.30 – 3pm– term time only + 5 INSET

Midday Supervisor(s)

We are looking to recruit Midday Supervisors to cover the lunch period at The Orchard School on Monday to Fridays to start as soon as possible.

Salary: Band B SCP 9-13 (£14,975 -£16,191) pro rata

Hours: 8.33 hours per week, term time only - 11.40am-1.20pm Monday-Friday

If you are interested in working with children with complex and profound learning difficulties and can work in a team situation then this may be the job for you. You will be working with the children supervising at lunchtime and assisting with the partaking of food, engaging and encouraging play activities and assisting with children’s hygiene requirements which include toileting and laundry tasks. Shortlisted candidates will be required to attend school prior to interview for a short pre-assessment with the children at lunchtime to help decide your suitability for the role. This will take place on Monday 19th June 2017.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment.  The successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check. Any offer of appointment will be subject to successful DBS clearance and 2 satisfactory references and a clear Disqualification by association return.

Note: Having gained the relevant experience/training, the successful candidate may have the opportunity to act as a supply classroom assistant via the Templink agency.
