We celebrated our Orchard School Maths Day on the 6th May 2021. It was fantastic to see all our children engaged in Maths and having new mathematical experiences. This has enhanced the learning across the different strands of Maths; Using and Applying, Number and Shape, Space and Measure. Pupils embedded previous learning through accessing a variety of new activities as well as being introduced to new mathematical concepts. Pupils dressed up in a Maths theme, colours, clothes with numbers and shapes and clothes with different patterns.
The Orchard School celebrated World Book Day in style. We had a great day celebrating our love of stories at home and school. We themed our day around Julia Donaldson stories, dressing up as our favourite characters , role play and drama sessions, and creative writing and reading linked to our stories. We took our class stories home and repeated our class sessions at home with our families.
The Orchard School celebrated Nursery Rhyme week in November 2020. Each class chose a nursery rhyme or number rhyme for each day and enjoyed various activities linked to the rhymes. Nursery rhymes play an important part in early childhood development and children find them fun, they can help develop Speaking and Listening, Literacy and Numeracy skills.
